FEES
Article 11-2 of the National Internal Regulations of the Legal Profession (RIN) specifies that fees are determined according to practices, based on the client’s financial situation, the complexity of the case, expenses incurred by the lawyer, the lawyer’s reputation, and their diligence.
The lawyer’s remuneration is determined, in particular, by each of the following elements, in accordance with established practices:
- Time devoted to the case,
- Research work,
- Nature and complexity of the case,
- Importance of the interests at stake,
- Impact of the firm’s expenses and charges,
- Reputation, titles, seniority, experience, and specialization of the lawyer,
- Benefits and results obtained for the client through their work, as well as the service provided to the client,
- Client’s financial situation.
Based on these elements and after an initial meeting necessary to identify the issues, a fee agreement may be established with the client’s consent, either as a fixed fee or based on the time spent. In some cases, a success fee may be provided in addition to a fixed fee.
Legal professionals are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.
In the event of a fee dispute, the Client has the option to approach a Consumer Mediator in the legal profession:
